PEERS® for Teens

Let's talk

Our Mission

We provide research supported social skills training for teens and young adults with social challenges. We teach the fundamental skills for creating, developing, and maintaining relationships for life.

PEERS® for Teens

Group social skills training for motivated teens in middle and high school who are interested in learning new ways of making and keeping friends.

Groups meet once a week for 90 minute sessions over a 14 week period.

During each group session, teens are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills in session during socialization activities.

Participants attend with a parents or caregiver who will learn how to assist their teen in practicing and maintaining the skills they have gained.

Parents simultaneously attend separate sessions and are taught how to assist their teens by helping to expand their teen’s social network and providing feedback through coaching during weekly socialization homework assignments.

PEERS® may be appropriate for teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or other social and behavioral disorders.

Teens will learn about:

  • Use appropriate conversational skills
  • Use humor appropriately
  • Use electronic communication
  • Handle arguments and disagreements
  • Enter & exit conversations
  • Be a good host during get-togethers
  • Be a good sport
  • Change a bad reputation
  • Handle rumors and gossip
  • Handle rejection, teasing and bullying
